Molecular methods

Pathogen panels and sequencing, on one bench.

Nucleic-acid amplification and targeted sequencing are separate methods. Both are performed and reported by Patient Test Solutions, Inc.

How the work is organized

First the organism. Then the sequence, when that is the question.

Molecular methods answer a pathogen question. Sequencing answers a sequence question. The specimen stays in this laboratory from accession to report.

Molecular diagnostics

Amplification and detection

Respiratory, COVID-19, urinary, and HPV testing are run as multiplex methods. A single specimen can cover influenza with SARS-CoV-2, high-risk HPV with genotype resolution, or common uropathogens from urine.

Where the chemistry allows, extraction-free workflows shorten the path from specimen to result without a send-out.

Targeted oncology and cfDNA

Sequencing is a clinical service of this laboratory. Libraries are prepared on site and interpretation stays here. Hotspot, breast, colorectal, and lung panels read defined regions rather than an undirected genome.

Cell-free DNA workflows support plasma when tissue is limited. Genomic DNA, FFPE, and cfDNA are accepted according to the requisition.
